| Hot Pixel issue | Aramok

Has anyone had any experience of a hot pixel issue?
I have a canon eos 40d and am not sure if I can resolve this myself or if it has to go into Canon.
I had hoped that there might be a way to de-program the faulty pixel...
Its just I need the camera in 2 weeks time and there won't be enough time to get it repaired before then.
thanks

i have a few of them as well. They show up with long exposures. (little red/purple dots) They are small enough to be cloned out.
If do you find a sollution, let me know.
Thanks,

Hi, Emma
I am afraid the only permanent solution is to send the camera back to a Canon repair centre and they will "re-map" the sensor to completely eliminate the problem. It is a fairly simple job and can sometimes be done "while you wait" if you can get there in person. It may be possible to get it done under warranty. I assume it's a single pixel? Showing white or coloured? Sadly, it is not at all uncommon and over time more tend to pop up and sometimes they disapear spontaneously. As a short-term solution, Pixelfixer or batch processing in some other software can remove the annoying little speck.
Best wishes, Nigel. |

I followed Canon's advise and applied the lastest firmware update not expecting much, but it has actually worked. Could be worth a try for you as well.

Emma,
I've got the most updated firmware installed as soon as it became available. I believe this was back in May or June. I still have a few hot pixels, but they are few.
Thanks,
