Hi Deon,
magnificant bird, very good pose. I have never seen this species on TN, thanks for this. It seems that the picture was cropped a little too much, this would explain the lack of sharpness. Or else you had to use a high ISO value to achieve this result. Never mind, it can't be helped . Judging from your other presentations on TN you know your stuff anyway. Have a good day,
Greetings, Dietrich

Hi Luciano,

the superb composition and perfect execution is typical of you. OK, you were lucky that the butterflies were just at the right angle to the sunlight, revealing all details and emphasizing the colours. Chapeau also for the careful note, again typical of you.

Hi Thijs,
you are an old hand in this, thanks for proving it again with this piece of pure music. How the light strikes the wings, just what it needs to render the plasticity to the animal. And you are visibly a believer inusing a flash. So gooood.

Hi Ori,
of course it cannot be a plant occurring elsewhere in Europe and Asia :-) You even expect some endemites in the very special conditions in this steppe.
Good shot of Verbascum sinaiticum, which I may have seen myself in Jordan but not have known .

Hi Ian,
interesting, now I know something about butcherbirds in Australia. In Europe a group of smaller birds, calledLanius in latin are also butcherbirds (Lanius means butcher), doing the same thing to reptilian prey. Your birds are more impressive, though.
Thanks for presenting, greetings Dietrich

Hi Luciano,

that is a truly interesting shot and your note is doing justice to this Planthopper I never saw before. That you mastered the shot of this tiny insect with a Cybershot ist surprising, it mus be difficult to get the focus right. Thanks for this valuable contribution, it must be a first on TN !

Hi Lou,
it's going to fly ! Just great, how the cerambycid has spread the elytrae and is unfolding the hind wings. You had to action your button really fast. Great work, Lou, and thanks a lot for the "Special" mention.

Hi Ian,

spectacular indeed, and well done! It seems to me that the butterfly starts to fly, creating an upward force by flapping the wings all the way. I am envious, because that kind of shot has eluded me so far :-) . Thanks ian,

these are surprisingly difficult to shoot because of their activity and the predominant blackness. You did very well !

Dear Laurens,
...must go to Levkada myself, seems to be an entomologist's Paradise ... Bur looking at your other presentations, you found other hotspots, like Kreta and Kerkyra. The important thing is still the man, that takes interest in all the living things and for good photography. Thanks, Laurens, for your series of minicritters ...

Hi Ron,
Very elegant photo, absolute stunner! Fantastic lights and exposure, great depth and sharpness. I love this flower very much, and probably this is the nicest image of it I've ever seen. A pity you are still absent from the site, but I hope you come back soon.

Ciao Silvio,
Nice shot, great sharpness and color tones, plus I like the minimalistic composition as well. However, possibly a bit more contrast should have been added, and please be careful with the dust spots on the lens (there are many on the pic).

Hi Rolnd,
Nice, colorful photo with a beautiful moth and purple flowers. Background seems a bit busy, but the shallow depth helps a lot with blurring most of the flowers, gaining all attention on to the moth. Perfect sharpness even on the antennae. Nice work, congratulations!

Hi Luciano,
yes, the Geometridae hold a lot of surprises for us photographers. But this one beats everything I knew. You keep us wondering what advantage this kind of coloration holds for the species. But that is the idea of TN, to keep us wondering. Thanks for this one, Luciano!

Hi Laurens,
a wasp that goes to sleep in a ball, who has seen that before ! Thank you for your many instructive workshops that go with your presentations. I try to learn from you: you must use a screened flash or a ring flash to have this diffuse illumination so important for metallic looking insects.
The Swiss painter and entomologist Walter Linsenmaier depicted many Chrysididae and Buprestidae. When I was a boy his drawings fascinated me and made me interested in beetles and in taking macros. You bring memories back, Laurens !
Greetings, Dietrich
