A Robin

Hi Everyone,

I've not posted for ages, and I still haven't got a lens so my pic is way too soft but I liked the way he was posing for me, so I thought I would share. This is the sort of shot I would like to take but a lot sharper. I have set myself a challenge to get a Lens in the next couple of weeks so I can get some proper close ups instead of having to crop way too much.

Hopefully I can catch up with all the great shot I missed while my PC has been down.

Erithacus rubecula
AKA: European robin
The UK's favourite bird - with its bright red breast it is familar throughout the year and especially at Christmas! Males and females look identical, and young birds have no red breast and are spotted with golden brown. Robins sing nearly all year round and despite their cute appearance, they are aggressively territorial and are quick to drive away intruders. They will sing at night next to street lights.

Where does it live?
Likes woodlands, parks and gardens with plenty of undergrowth.
Similar to breeding habitats
Where to see it
Across the UK in woodland, hedgerows, parks and gardens.
What does it eat?
Worms, seeds, fruits and insects.
What does it sound like?
The song is a sweet, high warbling; alarm call is a loud 'tic',
When to see it
All year round.

Hello Hilary,
Welcome back!
OK this Robin is a as well little soft, but it's a nice shot just the same. I like the frontal POV and the comp with natural BG., as the striking colour of his breast.
TFS and best wishes, Ivan

Hi Hilary.
I am very glad to see you after so long pause. Really the shot is too soft but your robin is good guy and have posed to you excellently It is true. Its eyes are simply wonderful as well as the composition of the picture, lovely colors delicate lighting and perfect blurred BG. I hope everything with your equipment will be OK and we can soon see your new shots. My compliments and best wishes.

Hello Hilary,
Nice to hear from you! This is a very nice and close capture. Even if it's not the sharper, I think that it is a great eye contact and a beautiful pose from the bird. I like this exposure, colors and beautiful BG too. Those guys are so nice. I like them. Thanks,

bonjour hilary
ils sont difficile a prendre ces petits rouge gorge,il manque un peu de details, mais je suppose qu'il etait assez loin,en revanche les couleurs sont neturelles.
bien vu.

This is the second picture of a Robin I'm seeing today in which there is a direct eye contact between the photographer and the subject, Hilary.
Nicely composed image from a good perspective.
All the best in your quest for a good lens.
