Cheetahs Can't Climb Trees
 |
|
| [Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe |
Cheetahs are not supposed to be able to climb trees because they cannot retract their claws (they use them for stablity whilst running - rather like the spikes in a sprinter's shoes). This makes their claws (supposedly) unsuitable for climbing. No-one had told this young male or his brother as both were looking for prey in this acacia tree.
Samburu is an excellent Park for big cats. It is best if possible to have your own experienced guide and vehicle - otherwise what you see can be a compromise. I was able to watch this pair for ages - and was way late for lunch! |

Hi James,
Very nice shot of my favorite big cat... I hope one time I could see one in his natural habitat :-) Excellent composition and good details.
Thanks for sharing and I add this photograph directly in my favorite!
