Hi, Christos:
Identification here is a little tricky. At first glance it looks like Thymelicus lineola, but the faint paler spots on the underside suggest that it is actually Ochlodes sylvanus, the Large Skipper. These spots are normally much bolder, but fading, a male butterfly and the effect of flash may have contibuted to how faint these marking are. Or I could be wrong?
I would have preferred this shot to have the flash balanced with the natural light available ("fill flash") to avoid the dark background, but overall not bad ;)
Regards, Nigel.

Hello Cristos , very nice macro photo , good details colour the eye good compositie, very nice ,greeting Teunie .

The dark background really makes this butterfly stand out! Your depth of field helps me see every hair on that wonderfully colored butterfly. Nice point of view!

Very good photo of this Hesperiidae!
I'm more for an Ochlodes venatus, or O. sylvanus. It's quite dificult to be sure, like Merlin writed.
Excellent on details!
Very good DOF!
TFS!

This is a gorgeous image. Flawless as far as I can tell. I love the black background.

That's a well composed picture, Christos.
Perfect details, very good pose.
Rich naturalistic colours.
I think Nigel (Merlin) and Paulo (phlr) have done a good job finding the ID. Your picture is very sharp and clear, but there are a few very similar looking species. Skippers are difficult, you have to see at least both sides of the wings. With many of them you can't tell them from one another without a good book. One of these books says to me it could also be "Thymelicus acteon".
Whatever it is, it`s a pretty good macro shot from a Skipper.
Thanks and regards,
Peter
