[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
On the trail to Bamian one is surprised at the variety of rocks present in all colors and shapes. One seen here in the background is a hill of needle-shaped rocks. In the evening they look like soldiers marching down the rocks.
They are all reminder of the seasemic and volcanic activity this valley has undergone. And as a result of that this valley is extremely fertile and beautiful.

When I picture Afghanistan this is not what comes to mind. Looks like a beautiful place,at least this part of the country. Regarding the photo itself, I wish the lighting were less harsh, earlier or later in the day would have been better, you also caught some lens flare which is a bit distracting but could be removed in photoshop. It also seems a bit soft. Overall I like it, if for no other reason than it removes some of my preconceptions about a place. I'd love to see more from the region.

I agree with above comment. From what we see on television one would think that there was nothing green in all of Afghanistan! A lens hood would cut some the sun flare you got on the photo. If the sun is coming strong from the side at least try to sheild your lens. Landscape photos can be tricky as so ofter one part of the scene needs one exposure and another part needs a different exposure. There are graduated filters one can use in the field that help, or one can select parts of the photo to process on the computer. The parts have to be edited separately though. Thanks for sharing.
