Anatololacerta oertzeni finikensis (Oertzen’s Lizard) [in Turk. Örtzen Kertenkelesi]

A young boy of Oertzen’s lizard while basking on a rock. See also attached WS showing it from an another POV:)

When temperature rises, they can be found climbing onto rocks or tree barks, where sitting with their mouth open, which seems to help the thermoregulation. During their basking, if they notice some pursuiting case or a female in their environments, this lizard lift up their head and anterior body, and make "waving" movements with front legs as you can see here:)

As a member of TN at least approx. 3 years, I encountered an unusual and also ”meaningless” comment --at least in my view- from a new member (mwmod99) of TN. You can reach some correspondings following the related subject and some comments writen by an old and “GREAT” photographer of TN. I am sure you could understand and evaluate this situation why I gave this title to my post!

1. The comment
2. my reply
3. my feedback comment and a fabricated comment by an other GREAT member of TN
4. What a contradiction!

Hahaha…. In this way, since I exactly believe that I contributed this site at least with so many 1st uploadings, sharing of my knowledge on especially herpetology, I proud of myself. At this point, I am wondering that such kind comments/critiques how improve our international nature photography and relationships in a peaceful world?

Finaly, just a reminding! with a play back announce:)

"Sticks and stones can break my bones, but names can never hurt me":)

May be this lizard beauty also say the same epigram using his front legs

TFL and Have a nice day!
Cheers,

If someone find the herptiles and your estimable amazing knowledge on herpetology as boring, he/she can look the others' post which he/she can find atractive. He/she has to show respect the others' comments!!!

Dear BORING & SULKY PROFESSOR,
I still like you a lot, I like your teachings, your postings and the person who you are.
Your Oertzen’s Lizard seen from behind is a great point of view which shows the legs its back from above, and the size and shape of the incredible paws. Thanks for sharing my friend. Best regards.

Merhaba Bayram hocam,

Hi Bayram, do not be angry, the world is beautiful because is various... the varied widely criticized as long as they remain civil and respectful, are always welcome and I served much to improve, always appreciate the sincere people and I prefer those at unuseful and friendly comments. Then decide who is right is another thing .. hehe .. thanks for this different point of view of the lizard, the quality is not questionable! Have a nice day, Luciano

Hi Bayram

Fear not my friend, you ARE a great contributor to this site. Your reptile shots in particular will be invaluable for any person commencing an interest in herpetology from the Mediterranean region for decades to come. Don't worry about a single negative comment, rejoyce in the thousands of positive ones you've had over the years. And I bet you will make more friends on TN than he does.
Cool shot of this young lizard peeking over teh top of the rock. Good POV and sharpness as usual.

best wishes my friend
Chris

Ciao BBB. A good eye can see you've posted another jewel of light and colours. Razor details and intrigant POV. So says Luciano: do not be angry MF!

Merhaba MF Prof. Bayram,
ooh ooh this is not good.It is not the lizard or you. It is after reading such a comment. I personally appreciate all nature capture. I appreciate them, but giving a perfect shot or a stunning one is not the only purpose.
We do not know the process of taking the photograph, researching for the information, even the ID is not that easy for me.
That is why I appreciate the work people sent.
This is to show you how useful each and every shot uploaded.
I can see different animals, flowers, birds, etc all over the world.
sharing photos here is such a great sacrifice, as people could snatch it,,,but we did as we want to share the world's beauty as much as we share the sunlight, the air and the beauty. I salute you for the work you did.
Keep on sharing, like what you do now.....
A beautiful lizard in lovely position and glance.

Regards,
Foozi

Ciao amico Bayram, don't worry for bad comment, your lizard are so beautiful:), great POV on this one, splendid sharpness, wonderful natural colors and fine details, very well done my friend, ciao Silvio

Hola Bayram.

The main reason why I am here in TN is to learn from all living beings on our planet right through the information given to us in each of the photos. On occasions I find beautiful pictures without any additional information about it, in others the picture quality is not to good, but it leave much to be learned, and I think that is more valuable.
In other words I have learn a lot from Your beautiful photos and great notes You write.
Thank You My friend.

Saludos
Luis52.

I am glad you feel proud of yourself, Big Bro, 'coz we all are very proud of you and what you've shown and taught us, your TN family here, through your beautiful photography.
But please remember, one man's food can be another man's poison.
So please dont get angry with this person. You're the best, and perhaps also the most loved member here!
Now, this shot is an amazing shot!I love the POV you've chosen which is unique and brings out a very different perspective!
very well done!

Hello Bayram,

What can I say my dear boring friend ;-) Maybe to continue to bore us so well :-) I'm personally dreaming of the days where every member of TN will bore us as good as you do!!!

You know Bayram, we can't please everyone. Don't be affected by one stupid comment. The most interesting thing is to be proud of what we've done. And you can be proud of this picture (and the other you showed us in the previous post).

I really like this one and you managed very well with this little aperture (f/10) in order to get the whole lizard in focus. Excellent POV and exposition management. I'm wandering if by applying a rotation about 45 degree would have been a good idea (by creating a diagonal line with the body of the lizard).

Thank you Bayram, for sharing this image with us and don't bother with useless comments... :-)

Cheers,

Michel

Hi LBB,

Boring and sulking??? I don't think so. You got me interested in a whole new world through your wonderful pictures and exceptional notes. You are probably the most beloved person on TN and you would be wrong to waste time and energy on one negative personality. This Lizard is wonderful and I laughed when I noticed the front leg.

Jane

Hello my dear and boring Bayram!
Fortunately you have stopped the pictures of "young ladies lizards" to shoot today a "young boy lizard" ... This may be more complicated! ... but I do not follow, breaking my head with it! ha ha ha :)... Go on showing us these great lizards accompanied by very good photographic technique and excellent documents! good job! ... Greetings, thanks for sharing MF!
Jesús

Hi Beyram
you are one of a kind.
You are well educated Professor with great knowledge on herpetology, no question about that.

But always on the defend when it's not going your way, like this post. Really bad behavior.

Sulky means you aways pay back when you got one point or less.
A really bad behavior. You don't like a decent comments.
And shall we go on.
You said you read Ivans new intro and agree what he wrote but did you understand the words?
More than 50% of your postings are dedications. Pointhunting?
I took my time to read ALL you critiques since you start,
never a decent and honest comments, always praises. Pointhunting?
And your own points celebrations?

It's time you start a new attitude to TN and start to act like
the well educated man you are.

Regards
Gert

Dear Professor,
I may used some harsh words to judge your previous submission, but I still believe that after so may years you can learn allot from " younger" members here in TN few tricks about photography! This current image in my opinion also does not have much photographic values! Wrong camera angle, inappropriate cropping, too deep shadows around the eyes in my opinion,.. just an average work here Bayran in my view!
You need also to cool a bit, I am talking about a picture here, not your kind personality !

George Veltchev

Hi Bayram
Nice closed up.Sharp image and good skin detail.I also like the lizar and stone colors.Even if will stay neutral in the controversy that seem to be happening I would like to say that every members in TN old or new to bring something constructive in many different ways like beautiful image supported by exif that help us to understand how the picture was made it also bring thing like new species ,excellent text that help us understand species habit and so on.In your case you make me discovert a world that I,m not familiar with due to the lack of reptile in my province.Your image always give me a good view of the related speccies and your text are always first class.

Bonsoir mon ami Bayram,

Yolande

Merhaba Bayram Hocam

Hello Bayram,
A great close-up of this little lizard showing excellent detail and natural colors. The waving movement it makes with it's feet is very interesting and can easily be seen in this shot.
We don't have lizards like this in Ohio, but I love to watch them whenever I make a trip out west. I vividly remember watching one with a blue abdomen which made some unusual body movements. Whenever I got close it would raise itself up on all four legs and act like it was doing push-ups. I will always remember this strange sight, and have wondered many times what it's purpose was.
Ron

Your postings are always the most educative ones here in TN, isn't it the aim of this platform? Nobody can say that they are boring. Your posting can easily create a guidebook. But anyway, just keep calm, this is the best.
Best regards,

Hi Bayram,

Wonderful picture of this lizard, definitely not boring :).
The detail is very good and I like how the tail and body is acting as a lead in line to the head. Nice colours as well.
Great capture and TFS

Hi Bayram

It is a sad day indeed.

TrekNature received a major blow and it is at the loosing end of this very unfortunate
and avoidable battle. I am not going to pick sides here as there are many angles to every
argument, but it really saddens me that we have lost a major contribution and a wealth of
irreplaceable natural material. You were for sure the biggest contributor towards this site's
herpetological images. With time your portfolio also covered fields of entomology, botany, and
ornithology too. It would be sad to perhaps loose you as a friend as well should you decide to
leave the site all together.

Sometimes things are said and done that leaves all parties with a bitter taste in the mouth, but
many times it was never that harshly intended. Unfortunately through this impersonal and
cold media called cyber space we often see how communication turns sour simply because
people cannot properly talk about a certain aspect of disagreement and sort out the issue at
hand before too much damage is done.

What’s been done has been done in this case and unfortunately we do not have a magic wand
to undo it, but I hope that the binding force of our love of nature can help us to try and avoid
these unnecessary incidents on this wonderful site in future.

Thanks for everything that you have taught me and meant to me personally these past 3 years.

Take care my friend and best regards.
Loot

PS. Even my themed series for "RARE or SIGNIFICANT contributions to TN" has
taken a serious blow as you had so many TrekNature 1st contributions. A real pity.

Hello Bayram,
Due to work pressure I have not been present on TN for some time and I'm sad to see that you have removed your valuable contribution to TN
I have the impression that your comments on some members' photos have sometimes been too kind and were not appreciated by some people!
Please don't bother and come back with your excellent material
By the way this photo and note are excellent as usual
Kind regards
Albert

Hello Bayram,

I'm back again from a longer trip to Asia - and now I'm a little sad and shocked to read what was going on here during that time.
I'm happy you haven't quit here - but I'm sad that all of your wonderful shots have gone ...
I also can't understand why people talk to each other in such a way, it's a wonderful site here, everybody can learn from the other, everybody is looking to present interesting shots - and if someone don't like it - no problem, I can decide myself if I write a critique or not.
So don't be gutted about some members, better be happy that so many other love you, like I do ;-)

Your Lizard here is very pretty - and I know it's not easy to get close to them - I saw many in Burma and Thailand, but never had a good chance to make a good shot ;-( And I saw realy big ones, one was about 40 cm long and with many dark spots on the body - but I had no camera with me, so sad ;-(.

Enjoy the sunday,
greetings from the rainy Germany

Sabine

Merhaba Dostum,
