Hi Ron,
The last time I saw turtles was in the Everglades. There were so many species and I don't remember one name. I love the pose on the log showing off the face, shell and those hefty legs. Wonderful colors and details. He seems to be hamming it up for the camera.

Hello Ron,
This is a Painted Turtle. We also have them here at the Ridgefield wi;ldlife Refuge, and they can be seen most months except when it freezes or snows. Excellent capture on the log, well balanced and focused...

Hello Ron,
The turtle looks very happy in the light of the sun. You have taken a good image with the reptile in a fine pose. Good details of the animal and wood log below can be seen due to the high quality image.
Thank you for sharing,
Cristian

PS - I sold my Canon 100-400mm yesterday. I find the sentimental attachment is makin' me sad to see it go out the door today..
I didn't expect to feel this way :/

I remember well picking one up off the road back in the 1950's in TN on the way back from a trip to Florida with my father....and mom. we put it in the trunk and we kept it at home in the cabin in the woods on the woodsy side of Cleveland's Metro Parks....Before or during fall we left it go into the Rocky River Reservation...I do not of course know its fate...wonderful memories well brought back ron.

Hi Ron,
A really nice shot of this turtle, got it in good, sharp focus and a nice, natural pose. Can't say for certain what it is, but I'd lean heavily toward some variety of Painted Turtle, or it could possibly be a Slider of some sort.
Thanks,
John

Very nice shot. It's interesting that the markings are still visible on the top of its shell. The larger turtles I see turn almost black once they get some size to them. Gary
