|I took a series of pictures to capture the lunar eclipse the happened 28 August.|
first photo taken 9.15pm
second photo taken 9.36pm
third photo taken 9.39pm
forth photo taken 10.06
An eclipse occurs when the earth passes between the sun and the moon, blocking the sun's light. It is rare because the moon is usually either above or below the plane of the earth's orbit.
The lunar eclipse started at around 8.50pm, turning red from 9.50pm onwards. It was completely red at 10pm for an hour, and the eclipse finished at around 12.25am.
The last time a total lunar eclipse was visible over New Zealand was in July 2000, and the next occurrence observable from New Zealand is on December 21, 2010.
PP: cropped each imaged and used Photoshop to combine them in to a series.
I altered no levels and each photo was taken using the same settings.
Hope you enjoy
exposure 2.5 sec
focal length 51.0mm

Nice to see a post from you again.
Welcome to the eclipse club ... a few of us have had a go at it.
A good series of shots documenting the event well.

A beautiful series of the time during the lunar eclipse. Very good how you have sewn these seamlessly together. I especially like the red one. Very good contribution. Murray.
I think i must be the only one in NZ and from the trek sites not to have seen that eclispe!! Pretty disapointed! But thankfully there are people like you who can show me what I missed because of the clouds!
I like your serie very much. Very well done.
You put together a great sequence here of the stages of eclipse, wonderful. It was great staying up and trying to capture it bit by bit. I have yet to see if I can put some of mine together, they do look impressive like this.

Hello Sue a fabulous sequence of the eclipse very nice tfs rgds Necip.
I had the same idea some month ago. You should max. exposure of 1 sec and set the ISO to 400 or 800, you will get a good sharpness.
