[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
This is a Pied Butcherbird (Cracticus nigrogularis), a medium-sized predator with one of the most beautiful and melodious songs you will ever hear. They prey mostly on large invertebrates and small lizards, though small birds are occasionally taken when the opportunity presents itself.
They are found over most of the Australian continent except the moist south east corner and the arid interior.
This one was captured in a picnic ground west of Mackay.

Hi Chris

A lovely capture of this pied predator. One can clearly see what's the purpose of that impressive bill. I am sure the lizards hit a B-line when this guy gets near.

Good contrasts on the black and white plumage achieved by means of the well managed exposure. The soft BG does well to compliment the bird. The composition left ample space to move or stare into.

Well done and TFS.
Regards
Loot

Hi Chris!

First of all I like name of this bird - never heard of this one. Slightly similiar to magpie. Great exposure with perfectly taken blacks and whites. Clear composition, proud pose. Very good post.
