Thanks to Richard Vincent - Earthtraveler - for identifying the bird as a Tri-colored Heron. This is another of my images from Puerto Vallarta. This fellow has a smallish egret kind of look to him (or her) but so far I haven't been able to ID it from internet sites.

From the image you can see that he has just struck at a fish in the water, but......is being very careful and creating extra balance with his wings due to the large crocodile that is competing not just for the same fish, but also for the bird. The crocodile would submerge and then squirt water upwards so that...I'm thinking.. the birds would think it was a fish jumping and strike at the water. They didn't seem to fall for the crocs tricks, but were very wary and their wings were ready for balance and for flight.

Hi John, The bird looks like a Tri-colored Heron.
You got a great pose with this bird though the detail is a bit soft. Very nice reflection and the water looks good.

Hi John, it has been a while since your last picture, the one with the kingfisher, it's good to see you back. This picture is so lovely, I love the light, the reflection, the composition and the way you framed it. The pose of the bird is a perfect timing, the movement is beautiful and graceful. You captured real life at the opportune moment. Thank you!
