[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
I photographed this Great-tailed Grackle (Quiscalus mexicanus) enjoying the afternnon breeze by the beach, they are everywhere here in the Southwest.

Some species of Grackle, usually the Great-tailed, are confused with an American Crow when people unfamiliar with bird identification are asked to identify a dead blackbird. This usually occurs when birds need to be identified as candidates for West Nile virus.

Hello Everton,
Excellent portrait, very sharp, nice light and good DOF.
regards,
Nikos.

Everton, apart from the eye colour it's almost identical to the australian raven from what i can see in the photo. same shaped head and beck - just that it doesn't have the white/light blue eyes. I am becoming interested in bird photography - spending a lot more time observing and investigating some of the birds I photograph. it's great!
This photo is wonderfully clear and well composed bravo!!!

Hello Everton,
Great capture of this lovely grackle, suyperb sharpness
and very good depth of field, beautiful colors and
nice contrast, the black really shines and the yellow
eye is wonderful, great pose and nice clarity.

Hi Everton,

You have the male to go along with the female I posted a short time ago. Bet you heard him before you saw him. What a sound! Nice shot - I love the pose and the yellow eye. Beautiful shiny black plummage and we can see part of his great tail. I'm off to Colorado tomorrow afternoon so you will have to carry on for Arizona.

I just thought these were crows. LOL!!!

Nice capture and well framed. The soft BG highlights the bird nicely.
