[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
Here is a female moth of the family of Lasiocampidae called Large Tolype. I found it on my patio one morning (around 7:00 am). It is a common moth in Montreal. I really wonder about the black thing it has on its back.

The Large Tolype has a sleepy characteristic: It remains in place well after a busy night, resting, unmoving - apparently unaware of its surroundings. It is like a furry little white and gray stuffed animal that you can pick up, pass around and put back again without its seeming to have known.

Thank you,

Michel

Since you requested more info, the scientific name seems to provide a fair amount - presupposing I have the right one ;)
Here you go!

Hi Michel,
Interesting moth..You are right, it does look exactly like a suffed animal, expecially from this POV :)
Well placed in the frame with good details.
Great post & TFS!

Interesting urguement. Somehow i notice the surrounding object do not match the dog, so i will go for the moth. :-p TFS

Quel étrange créature Michel, bien vue et bien photographiée. J'aimerais bien le voir d'un autre angle aussi. Merci.

Mario

Amazing... I can see why this looks like a stuffed animal. Well seen and taken.
