Asian Lady Beetle is a beautiful ladybird native to eastern Asia. There are several morphs of this beetle depending on the pattern on the elytra and the coloration ranging from dull orange to red, of which I observed five, however it is easily identified by the “M” or “W” mark – whichever way you see it, on the pronotum (just behind the head). It lives for one to three years, depending on the availability of food and surviving winter several times. When disturbed – or handled – it produces an odor to deter predators, the smell is however insignificant and can be easily washed away. They are gentle and do not bite humans, but some people are allergic to this beetle.

Hi Aniruddha,
It is very nice and it gets my attention in a positive way, makes me as the veiwer interested in the activity of the beetles and their arrangemment and what they are doing. The soft background really punches the subjects out from the whole scene without distration and is very effective. If I shot this image I would've masked out the higher levels and increased the darker levels without causing the burned effect in the lighter colors, this would help obtain the details without loss. I wouldv'e shot 2/3 stop down and then made the adjustment in a photo editing application for optimal results. Don't worry too much this is still a fantastic image as I myself still deal with this issue today.

Hello Aniruddha! Oh yes, they do bite humans!! I had literally thousands of these beetles on my house 2 weeks ago, had to seal all the doors and windows as they want to winter indoors, unlike our native species. Very fine detail, good clarity, interesting composition with true colour. I enjoyed your photo, but cannot say I enjoy those beetles! TFS, Linda
