Hello everyone,

I wish happy new year to all of you - and I continue my "New Year, New Species" series, I mean that my first upload in the new year is a species which is new to TN. After Russula acetolens (fungus) in 2015, Larix kaempferi (plant) in 2016 and Russula queletii (fungus) in 2017, it's toadstool time again: now the Smoked or Black jelly oysterling (Resupinatus applicatus (Batsch) Gray) is featuring, as far as I know, the 1st time on TrekNature.

Rare species, which is growing on the underside of logs. This was the only time in my life when I managed to find it, in the Curraheen riverside forest near Cork City, back in 2014. Exsiccates in my fungarium.

Photo: done in aperture priority exposure mode, used macro converter lens and a log as "monopod". PP: moderate cropping, level adjustment, selective sharpening after re-sizing.

Thanks for looking.
