Coral Root Bittercress (Dentaria (Cardamine) bulbifera)

This is the first time this species is shown on TN

Swedish name: Tandrot, meaning ‘tooth root’. Both the English, scientific and Swedish names refer to the knotted whitish rootstock.

The dark brownish knot-like buds down to the leaf bases are typical.

This species of Bittercress belonging to the Cabbage family (Brassicaeae) is not common in Sweden, being found in mature deciduous woodland, especially beech woods.
It tends to occur in lime-rich soils. Though widespread in Europe it is not regarded as common.

This was taken at a distance of about 1.8 meters (6 ft) with my long lens hand held and after moderate cropping it was selectively sharpened. I took the opportunity to take this shot while the flowers were bathed in the spring sunshine while others were in the shade.

Hello Ivan,
Lovely colours and very good sharpness. The background is perfect. Excellent photo.
Marius.

A great pleasure to be your neighbour today, Ivan.
Thanks for greeting me first with your critique on my picture of a Black Drongo. I'm still making do from my archives.
This is a beautiful, almost lyrical image of light pink flowers of a plant making its maiden appearance on TN. I congratulate you on that account.
Your high sense of aesthetics is amply evident in this thoughtfully composed frame.
I have a day off today to give me time to post a picture, write a few critiques and then enjoy a long afternoon nap to shed the weariness of working in a basement hall, six days a week.
Warm regards.
Ram

Hello Ivan,

This is a beautiful composition; the colours are just stunning as is the detail. The f5.6 has isolated the Coral Root from the background, which in its self complements the image superbly, really nice work, all the best

Cheers Rick :)

Dear Ivan!

I like this delicate flower picture very much. It is, from my point of view, so beautiful because of its simplicity. Moreover, the perfect lighting and the nicely blurred background highlight the plant's beauty at best.

Kind regards

Hola Don Ivan.
Saludos Don Ivan.

Hi Ivan

Wow, imagine that (and I quote your notes): "This species of Bittercress belonging to the Cabbage family…" Now who would have thought that? This is amazing how TrekNature once again fulfils its educational function.

The specimens you selected to capture whilst it was "bathed in the spring sunshine" show a lovely burst of colour as it was also beautifully enhanced by the darkish OOF and evenly coloured BG. Although very simplistic with the single stem terminating in the very attractive inflorescence, but the composition worked excellent.

Well done and TFS.
Regards
Loot

Hi Ivan,
TFS this species unknow for my, pettry flower, excellent POV.
TFS and best regards.
Ferran

I love the POV you've chosen, Ivan, apart from the the beautiful OOF dark BG!
Very well done!
Goldy

Such a dainty beauty captured with great expertise from a detail revealing POV, against a flattering BG Ivan, thanks for this "first" my friend.
Cheers,
Mehmet

Hello Ivan,
I'm a little bit late for this picture, I missed it unfortunately.I know this fine flower, because the Orange Tip is often posed on it in our Botanical Garden. It is such a fine picture, the kind I appreciate so much, especially for its simple composition and the fine light. Subtle colors too.
Je vous souhaite une belle journée, même si elles sont courtes en ce moment.
Amitiés
Anne
