Pica Pau Verde, European green woodpecker

(Picus Viridis) - male

Hello TN Friends!

Today I have a new species for me... the European green woodpecker...It is the largest of our woodpeckers. The green body is having a lighter shade (yellowish almost) in the rump. The crown is red, with the male also red mustache. In flight is its characteristic undulating flight. It can be confused with the female of orioles.
It is distributed throughout the territory, and apparently a little more numerous in the north than in the south.
It arises mainly associated with forest areas, usually with some gaps.It shows a preference for pine trees, although it also occurs in other types of woods. As the other woodpeckers, is a resident species and can be observed during the year.

Have a good week and thanks for viewing...

Hello Jose,
Very beautiful photo of this Green Woodpecker. Sometimes I see one in my garden, almost always in the grass on the ground. But this one on a trunk is fantastic in a great free pose. Excellent sharpness, composition and background in beautiful matching colours.

Beautiful photo Jose , sharp , good eye contact and nice BG.

Thanks for sharing.

A really captivating image of a Woodpecker, Jose.
Superb sharpness and clarity with amazing natural shades and hues of colours.
I also like its perch. The neutral green BG plays a vital role in the appeal of this wow shot.

Excellent capture of this green carpenter friend Jose. Today I start my vacation and am happy to begin repaying criticism of my colleagues after almost six months in which overwork had taken my time and strength to work TrekNature seriously.

I really like the trunk on which you choose to photograph this beautiful bird. The fund will also focus with different shades of more or less dark green, make beautiful backdrop.

Thanks for sharing your work, man.
