There is a good balance of light and dark in this landscape picture, Niek.
It is exactly these contrasts that lend your picture a quality that is highly artistic, to say the least.
The sky too is very eloquent with red-tinged clouds illuminated by the setting sun.
Your note is relevant and useful in today's context.

hi niek, no many words....just perfect...
Yep...this is the one i was referring to...and i really like it :)
The clouds here on top are just gorgeous and close the entire frame very well, in my opinion.
The sun is again (just like in the other shot) very well position in the frame and together with the horizon, creates a superb and classic composition.
I also like the way your reverse grad worked here - you positioned it very well and thus resulted in a great balance of light in the sun/reflection.
Just as you said, the tree to the left and the grass does look a bit dark, but to me that's actually very natural in a situation when you are facing or looking at the sun.
So, overall, a lovely work my friend!
Bravo and TFS
PS: i finally made up my mind about my vacation - it's a week in Norway with a group of friends in mid-August :) Any tips? (as i know you've been there)

I had forgotten, how light it is in your country at 9:30 pm!
Here, in the NE of South Africa is is dark at 7 in summer; now in winter at 4:30 pm!The way you framed the image with a white border is unusual as well as very attractive: a postcard from Holland :-)
I very much appreciate the natural colours. I always ride this hobby-horse - but it is truly a shame how many members ruin a good photo by photoshop-killing! Ending up with an image alike cheap paintings in souvenir stalls...
You live in a beautiful country - populated by generous, lovable people - and you show us the romantic side/atmosphere in your work.
I wish you a nice week-end
Greetings from South Africa (cannot wait for the vuvuzelas to stop at night!)
PS do you think your team will win?
well, i see you have invested in the reverse grad - any good? do you get much use out of it? I would imagine in the Netherlands, where you have pretty low, level horizons alot of the time it is quite useful. I am thinking of getting one myself, as i think for shooting seascapes at either end of the day it might be useful on some ocassions...
I really like the sky park of this shot, the light you caught is beautiful. POV and composition are both very good, although could those reeds not have been a little more prominant? Perhaps a vertical framing here may have been intersting, did you try it? I do feel the dark parts (from the filter no doubt) are a bit too dark as you say, the left hand side of the frame could lose a little maybe. But this could be a difference in our monitors. The control of the sun on the horizon is excellent.
well done my friend.

An amazing " post card image". Great depth and nicely exposed creating the silhouette effect with high lights in the sky.
