another discovery in the early morning lawn, with the vegetation still full of moisture..
O.k.....thanks Dietrich for help and determination of this larva

The Tenthredinoidea are the dominant superfamily within the Symphyta, containing some 7000 species worldwide, primarily in the family Tenthredinidae. All known larvae are phytophagous, and a number are considered pests.

Excellent macro, great colors and composition!

Ciao Sergio.

ps. I "cugini" - almeno i nostri, l'hanno sfangata ieri sera eh?

Hi Sergio,
you seem to be looking at one of the last stragglers before reaching a winter shelter. The light plays some tricks on the shot, but this is clearly a Tenthredinidoidea larva, for instance Hoplocampa testudinea (on apple). The black eye and the one abdominal segment carrying no legs distinguish it from lepidopteran caterpillars. TFS.
Best regards
Dietrich

Dear Sergio!

I'm glad to notice that Dieter has determined the ID of this nice fellow. This adds to the value of the picture. The caterpillar with the nice head and the morning dew create a fine impact.

Kind regards

Markus

Ciao Sergio,

Excelente trabajo.
