Le polypore des clôtures ou lenzite des clôtures / des poutres / des haies ou gloeophylle des haies, est un champignon saprophyte lignicole commun, que l’on retrouve sur les troncs morts de conifères, en particulier ceux exposés au soleil, dans les brûlés, à l'orée des bois et dans les endroits peu ombragés. Il est solitaire ou en groupes. Comme il est plus ou moins vivace et qu'il sèche au lieu de se décomposer, on peut le rencontrer toute l'année. Les individus qui ne reprennent pas vie au printemps, sont d'un brun grisâtre terne.
Sa face supérieure est sèche, strigueuse-feutrée, surtout vers la marge, glabrescente vers le point d'attache, concentriquement zonée et présentant une gradation de couleurs, blanchâtre à jaune ocre ou jaune orangé à la marge en période de croissance active, brun rouille au milieu, brun foncé à noirâtre vers le point d'attache, devenant globalement plus foncé et plus grisâtre en vieillissant.
Il n’est pas comestible.

Hi Catherine. This fungi has got amazing colours. The dark brown and the bright orange go together so well. You have used the light to give a bright picture. Showing the fungi with good detail . Well seen and taken TFS.

A finely focused fungus scene with rich, saturated colours Catherine, I think a slight cropping from above might improve the composition.

Salut Catherine,dans le petit preview j'avais eu la sensation de voir une etrange Vanessa Atalanta..eheh..les memes couleurs du papillon mais..surprise..ils sont des fungi..oooh..mais quelle merveille,jamais vus et avec des dessins et couleurs magnfiques! Great fungi image Catherine!!
The detail is very sharp and the DOF is great. Gorgeous natural colors with just the right amount of exposure.
When I first viewed your thumbnail image I thought it was some kind of butterfly.
