Hello my heartfelt friend Marie,
Wonderful shot of this bulb fly (which it has so many bristles on body like Bombus bees) with nice DOF, POV and sharpnes. I am sory friend I have not enough information on these flies to help you on its ID. :(. TFS and My best regards,
Bayram

Lucky you to get this subject packaged with flowers, Marie :-)!
This is a crisp macro of the Bulb Fly with fine details and colours. The eye in particular is in sharp focus.
The other perspective in your workshop shows its features to great advantage.
TFS.

Hi Marie,
What ever the species may be. But it is beautiful although its larva is not farming friendly. Excellent composition and sharp details. Very well captured. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Hello Mariki
You really are a master at the macros..The details here are stunning regardless of the BG.
I really like the other pov as well showing more of a head on shot.
Paul

Ciao Marie,
veramente bello questo dittero, che imita un Bombus!
Penso anch'io che si tratta di Mallota fuciformis.
Ottima la messa a fuoco e la luce, molto naturale.
Ciao,
Marcello

Hello Mariki,
An excellent macro of this rare syrphid a first for the species on TN. Reminds me of Volucella bombylans but is much hairier, which make the mimicry of a bumblebee very effective. I like the POV and sharpness, the BG is less preferable to a natural but that can't be helped, especially when it is such an unusual species.
Thanks for sharing this fine image,
Cheers, Ivan

Bonjour,
Jolis détails pour une étude anatomique.
Bonne journée.

PS I like ws too

Buenos colores y naturalidad en ellos, aunque creo que falta un poco de profundidad.

Hi Marie, this is one that would definitely fool me. The mimicry on this fly is incredible. The background is not great but you have handled a very difficult situation with lighting very well. With the strong backlight and dark counter this would be very difficult to establish a proper exposure, but your exposure is excellent. The fly, in both your main shot and workshop is in great focus with very good colour and sharp detail. Very nicely done.

Thanks, John

Hi Marie,
Odd looking syrphidae, it looks like a small bumble bee..
Great detail, color, DOF, and good exposure of the subject.
Too bad he wasn't on that bouquet of flowers when you shot this :)
Have a great weekend,
Howard
