Thanks for received critiques yesterday.

The Emu, Dromaius novaehollandiae, is the largest bird native to Australia and the only extant member of the genus Dromaius. It is also the second-largest extant bird in the world by height, after its ratite relative, the ostrich. The soft-feathered, brown, flightless birds reach up to 2 m (6 ft) in height. The Emu is common over most of mainland Australia, although it avoids heavily populated areas, dense forest and arid areas. Emus can travel great distances at a fast, economical trot and, if necessary, can sprint at 50 km/h (30 mph) for some distance at a time. They are opportunistically nomadic and may travel long distances to find food; they feed on a variety of plants and insects.(wiki)

The Emu subspecies that previously inhabited Tasmania became extinct following the European settlement of Australia in 1788; the distribution of the mainland subspecies has also been affected by human activities. Once common on the east coast, Emu are now uncommon; by contrast, the development of agriculture and the provision of water for stock in the interior of the continent have increased the range of the Emu in arid regions. Emus are farmed for their meat, oil and leather.

It's so hot now here. And I can do nothing, only sitting and waiting when time to go home. And then I look at your picture... It's so funny and so wonderful. It looks like a bird woth human eyes. Thanks a lot!

Genial retrato, con un bello y original PoV, además de un excelente DoF.
Buena nota y genial trabajo.
Un saludo, Jl.

Hello Annick,
This is another one of your great portrait! This is beautifully composed with superb natural exposure, great details and funny eye contact. Like I said before, your animals' portraits are work of art. Congrats!
Claudine

Hello Annick,

This is both beautiful and funny! The image has the same outstanding technical quality as the ones posted before. Artistically, you also did a great job by composing the image like this. You wisely chose the place where you positioned the head of the Emu and also captured a great expression on its face. This stands out perfectly against the excellent background. Very good PP on the background. I can't refrain from pointing out how good the details look! Just one question: why did you apply USM in LAB mode? Thanks!

With Friendly Regards,
Eddie

Hi Annick,
You've done it again, showing us one of your great bird portraits.
This must be a bird with an attitude seeing the pose and the look on the face.
Technically perfect and the soft background is very pleasing.
Thanks for sharing and the great note.

Harry

Hi Annick

What a great shot. I love the ragged look and the 'I don't care what I look like' feel to this picture.
