This insect is also known as lanternfly. It feeds by sucking tree juice. It's not easily found nowadays in Hong Kong. Its extraordinary appearance attracts a lot of insect lovers. Wish TN friends will like it too.

Hi Waisum,
understandable that entomologists gather when such a splendid Fulgorid appears... What a sight! Even Linnaeus knew about the animal. You got a good shot of it. The animal was not exposed to the full sun, it would have been difficult to render the fine colors and patterns well. Thanks for sharing.
