|Reed Cormorant |
I have captured this 'Reed Cormorant' (Microcarbo africanus) at Marievale Bird Sanctuary, early in the morning. I've noticed that most of the birds are mostly active at the time of Sunrise, so I always reach this Bird Sanctuary before Sunrise and booked my place in the Hide. This is such a picture, and I have captured from Hide while this Cormorant was trying to dry its wings.
It's not such a big Cormorant, 50-55cm length.
It breads much of Africa south of the Sahara and Madagascar 🇲🇬. Its wing coverts are silvery. It has longish tail and red or yellow eyes and face patch.
