Lesser Masked Weaver
 |
|
[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe |
The Lesser Masked Weaver, ploceus intermedius, is 13 – 14 cm.
The breeding male is the only pale-eyed masked weaver with the mask extending onto the fore-crown. The mask has narrow extension onto central breast, and has a notch above the eye. But this is a female. Like non-breeding males they are nondescript, with pale eyes; yellower below than most female masked weavers. The legs are blue-grey. The juvenile’s eye is brown.
Habitat: Savanna and woodland. Breeds colonially in trees and reeds near water; nest is rather untidy, with a short to medium entrance tube.
Status: Locally common in many countries south of the Sahara.
Voice: Typical swizzling song.
Source: Birds of Africa, South of the Sahara, by Ian Sinclair and Peter Ryan. |

Hi Peter
Great capture of this busy bird.
As always the sharpness is good as well as the depth, resulting in a neat background.
