[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe |
Giant African Land Snail laying eggs in an archaeological trench yesterday morning. Leaves were falling as it layed so that the eggs would soon become covered with a warm, damp, decaying layer. Introduced by the French in the 18th century, supposedly because a doctor told the wife of a governor that the slime would be good for her skin condition, they have become a huge invasive pest. They are, none the less, interesting creatures. |
