I have captured this 'Black-bellied Bustard' (Lissotis melanogaster) in Kruger National Park, during our mid day game drive. It was in my wishing list before plunge in to KNP. Light wasn't harsh that day and it was bit cloudy. Like all my KNP pictures, this one also I took from our self driven car. A beautiful species.......

It's a male one. The black belly of the male extends into a thin line along the neck to the throat.

Hello Srikumar,
Another new species for me, and a very lovely one at that. It posed perfectly for you, showing off its beautifully marked plumage in fine fashion. I would imagine it would be well camouflaged while lying motionless against the ground, keeping its black breast and the underside of its neck hidden. Very good eye contact and sharp as a tac.

Hi Srikumar, lovely and funny pose for this bustard, reminds a lot a star of movie of the 1930. Perfect capture as usual. Have a nice day and thanks,LUCIANO

Thanks for this wonderful presentation.

Hi Srikumar,

The subject is well framed. The point of view is showing the details of the Black-Bellied Bustard. The good luminosity is giving nice tints to the colours. Have a nice day.

Hi Sri,
Your gallery is full of good and at the same time educational photos - for example this is also a species I've never heard about before. Good exposure, details are visible on both blacks and whites, Beautiful pose + eye-contact, and the combination of shallow DoF and flat background help the viewer to concentrate on the subject only. Great photo. Bravo.
Kind regards from Ireland, László
