[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe

1. Ibises have curved, slender bills that they use to probe into shallow water, mud or grass when foraging.

2. As with flamingos, the brilliant red color of the scarlet ibis comes from carotene found in the crustaceans on which it feeds.

3. The scarlet ibis is a gregarious bird, living, traveling, and breeding in flocks. In flight, ibises form diagonal lines or v-formations. This formation decreases wind resistance for trailing birds. When the leader of the pack tires, it falls to the back of the formation and another ibis takes its place at the front.

4. Ibis' are rather quiet birds, only grunting or croaking on breeding grounds.

5. Both the male and female take turns in guarding the nest site until the chicks are large enough to defend themselves. In addition, both parents help feed the chicks.

6. Ibises are an ancient species with fossil records going back 60 million years.

7. The scarlet ibis is the national bird of Trinidad and Tobago.

Hello George Friend!
Wow ... an unexpected neighbor! Glad you're back!
And this time with a bird whith the color of my butterfly! :) ... As always, your photos are still very impressionistic; This is not just for the bird and the coloring, also the pose with the open beak, provide an exquisite dinamic touch to the picture. Good work! with a great cut also. This is one of those photos as "Nat Geo"!
Regards, TFS, Jesús
PS: I like a lot this kind of notes anexed!

What a clean capture for this beautiful subject, crystal clear.
The background is just a beautiful contrast for the reds.
Great pose too.
I am surprised with the elaborate framing, which tryes to convey the picture, with TN background horrible colour.
I have tryed myself but gave up soon, but here you got it! :)
Regards, Felipe.

Hello George,
Very beautiful and well saturated photo of this Scarlet Ibis from the Americas. I think the photo was taken in a zoo or bird park. I'm missing this in your note. But splendid it is. Excellent sharpness, details ad a good choice of composition.

Bonsoir George,

Quite different from your insects, but shot with same quality. Composition is well balanced, Focus and exposore as usual, right on. Lovely bohkey from the F/4 opening. Stunning image and TFS.

Hallo George
The vivid colour of the plumage on this Ibis is very prominent and well seen, and displays beautifully against the fuzzy blurred background. The longish curved beak and the almost oval shaped eye is pretty. I like the natural light in the image, which brings out the lovely colours of the plumage of this pretty bird to its best. Thanks for sharing this great image, that is really sharp and presented in a lovely manner. Best regards.

Ciao Geroge. Meeting of colour and light for a great show.
