A long-legged, very shaggy hyena, with a mantle of straw-colored hair overllyng dark brown torso: mantle obscures black trensverse stripes on body; dark leg stripes remain conspicuos. Bushy tail entirely black; ears pointed,long and narrow;face blackish.
